- Student ID cards are compulsory for admission into the library and must be promptly displayed upon request by library staff.
- Student ID cards are not transferable. Student are responsible for any transactions made using the card
- Lost students ID cards must be reported to the Campus Central immediately to avoid other parties using your card for borrowing.
- Student is required to get a replacement if their card found faulty
Behaviour & Conduct
- Silence must be maintained in areas designated as “Silence” and in any event noise should be kept to reasonable levels and as appropriate to the designated area.
- Silence must be maintained in areas designated as “Silence” (Level 4 and 5 and Study Room @Taylor's and Elysian) and in any event noise should be kept to reasonable levels in areas designated as ‘Quiet’ (Level 3 & Level 2)
- Food is strictly prohibited in the library. Food bought from café will be consumed in the room only.
- Bottled water and drinks in sealed cups, may be consumed in the library but bringing drinks in the computer rooms or near the computers in the Library (Computer lab, Mac Lab, Computer kiosk, catalogue terminal) and Theatrette is strictly prohibited.
- Alcoholic drinks are strictly prohibited in the library.
- Library users are not permitted to make or take telephone calls within the library. Mobile phones shall be switched to silent mode at all times.
- Moving library furniture from its designated place is strictly prohibited.
- In line with Taylor’s University’s guidelines on dealing with Public Display of Affection (PDA - refers to demonstration of physical affection in public areas; examples include kissing, fondling and inappropriate sexualized gestures), unacceptable public displays of affection can result in being asked to present your Student ID and being referred to Counselling and Psychological Services Centre(CPSC) for record purposes.
- Sleeping in the Library is strictly prohibited. Students who are ill are advised to refer to Clinic located at Ground Floor, Syopz Mall for further action.
- Doing project (involving cutting, gluing, assembling) and playing games/card/gambling or non-academic activity in Library are prohibited.
- Strictly no pet allowed inside the Library
- No book or library material may be brought out of the library until the loan has been recorded. Unauthorized removal of the library materials is regarded as a very serious offence.
- Library users are responsible for the safekeeping and return of library materials issued in their name and card.
- Library materials shall be returned on or before the due date or earlier; or if the member is notified that an item is required by another reader.
- Library books must be returned via electronic/manual book drop located at the respective libraries.
- A fine is charged on loans kept beyond the due date and is payable upon return of the item.
- Official time for determining fines on overdue books and for other purposes will be read according to the time determined in the computer system at the library. Should the system be down, the correct time will be determined by the library staff at the Lending Services desk (Taylor's Library) and Lending & Information Services Desk (Taylor's Clinical School Library)
- Courtesy notices and overdue notices are sent as a reminder only and library will not be responsible for non - delivery under whatever circumstances. Student or staff are responsible to check their My Library Account regularly to keep track their transaction and the due date.
- Any overdue item not returned within 14 days after the final reminder letter has been sent shall be considered as lost. The cost of replacing the item will be notified to the student.
- Failure to receive any notice sent does not relieve a borrower from their responsibility to return library materials by the date due.
- Users are allowed to borrow library materials 15 minutes before library closure.
Computers & Multimedia Equipment
- Library users are required to use the login & password provided by the ICT. Kindly log-off after your session.
- Users are not permitted to use the computers and multimedia equipment for unauthorized purposes or non-academic related activities.
- Do not install or uninstall any programs in the computer.
Losses & Damages
- It is a serious offence to mutilate damage, misplace or refuse to return library material. Underlining, marking, folding of pages in the book etc. are strictly prohibited. Losses or damages must be reported promptly to the Library staff on duty.
- The user will make good a loss or damage with a replacement copy (being the latest edition at the time of loss) at his/her own expense, or undertake to pay the current market price of the latest edition of the lost item; in addition to RM50.00 processing fee and overdue fines due till the day that the loss was reported.
- Any attempt to steal library properties is a serious offence and will result in disciplinary procedures and other appropriate actions.
- In the event of an emergency requiring closure of the Library, members must leave immediately upon being asked to do so by the librarian in charge. While it is recommended that personal belongings are taken, this must not delay the evacuation of the Library premises. Re-admittance to the premises shall not be permitted until it has been confirmed that the emergency is over.
- There are designated emergency exit which patrons can use to exit the Library. Patrons should familiarize themselves with the emergency escape routes. Please refer to the Emergency plan information display near the lift.
- Patrons are required to use the Discussion Room/Multimedia room/ Rooms with Interactive White Board for group study and discussions only.
- These Rooms may be used throughout the day for 2 hours by groups of 4 and above depending on room size. Please refrain from loud or disruptive behaviour when using these rooms.
- Library's Discussion Rooms at Taylor's Library can be booked manually through the Enquiry Desk on first-come-first-serve basis. Patrons must immediately use the rooms after registering at the Enquiry Desk.
- To ensure fair usage of the rooms and to prevent non-Taylor’s students using the rooms, student IDs of all members of the group must be presented at the time of registration and collected at the end of the session
- Copyright protection in Malaysia is governed by the Copyright Act 1987. Library users must comply with Copyright laws and licensing agreements when using audiovisual equipment, computers, online services and photocopying facilities.
Clearance & Procedure
- Students must settle any outstanding fines and payments at the end of each semester or before end of the programme. Failure to comply with the procedure will result in the borrowing privileges being suspended in the following semester or certificate will be hold before the convocation ceremony.
Compliance with data protection
- The library collects the following information
- Biographical information, including name, address, staff or student identification number, program or department affiliation, contact information and barcode number for all current students and staff
- Titles which patrons request
- Items currently loaned out
- History of fines, book replacement and processing fee charges
- Access to patron information is limited to officers of Taylor’s University or its affiliated companies who require the information in order to perform the duties of their position. Disclosure to third parties will only occur with the written consent of the patron or as required by the law. All records whether in electronic or hard copy are maintained in a secure environment.
Safety & Security
- The library is under camera surveillance.
- Patron who activates the Library alarm is liable to be questioned and checked by the Security Officer. Please follow the instructions of the staff and produce your student card in such an instant.
- Do not leave your possessions unattended at any time.
- Members should remove all their belongings from the tables when they leave the Library. Books and other item left for more than 30 minutes unattended on chairs and tables may be removed by the other user or library staff.
- The Library shall not be responsible for the safety of any personal property left within the Library. Unclaimed and lost property found are to be handed over to the Campus Central within 24 hours or the next working day.
- Library users should leave the library at the second announcement before the closure of the library.
- On leaving the library, users may be asked to produce for inspection all books and items taken out of the library.
- Behaviour or actions which interfere with the use of the Library by other patrons are forbidden and will be reported to the Security and disciplinary action may be taken.
- Those who do not comply by the rules may be asked to leave the library by a member of the library staff or security personnel and their names forwarded to the School Disciplinary Board for further action.
- The Head Librarian may amend the Rules and Regulations as and when necessary.
- The main purpose of these rules is to safeguard the common interest of all users and to enable the library to carry out its functions as efficiently as possible. Failure to observe the rules can lead to disqualification or other disciplinary action.
- Not withstanding anything contained in these rules, the decision of the authorities of the University/College shall be final and binding on all members.

- Minimum of RM1.00 and not more than RM 30,000.00.
- In the event you have insufficient funds for the transaction, the transaction shall be rejected.
- The invoices once paid are non-transferable to any other TAYLOR’S account.
- TAYLOR’S will not accept responsibility/liability for:
- the refusal of your bank to honour or accept your request for payment.
- the disclosure of your bank details to any unauthorized person.
- any unauthorized use of your bank details.
- Any complaint must be resolved directly with your bank. Complaints must not be offset against TAYLOR’S and any payment to TAYLOR’S must not be withheld in the event of such complaints or under any circumstances whatsoever.
- All payment transactions with regards to the Service are assumed to have been made by you and you will be held liable for all charges arising from such transactions, regardless of whether the transaction is authorized or unauthorized.
