Taylor’s Library Discussion Room Policy (Available at Taylor's Library only)

Taylor’s Library provides space for group discussion or presentation. These rooms may be used throughout the day for 2 hours by groups of 4 to 8 persons. To ensure fair use of the discussion room, library management sets the following policy to govern the use of these rooms.

General Policies

  • Maximum booking of the Discussion Rooms is 2 hours at any one session.
  • Discussion Rooms are intended for groups, defined as 4 to 8 users actively using the room.
  • All students in the group intending to use the room must leave their student ID at the Enquiry Desk at Level 2.
  • Users are responsible for their personal property at all times, and should never leave items unattended.  The Libraries are not liable for loss or damage to personal property.
  • Students who leave the room unattended for more than 15 minutes will forfeit their reservation.
  • Discussion Room users must maintain a moderate noise level - rooms are soundproof, however please refrain the loud talking as it will disturbs other users in adjoining rooms and outside the rooms.
  • Users of the Discussion Rooms must clean up after themselves and leave the room in good condition for the next users.
  • Users of Discussion Rooms should not consume food or have beverages in uncovered containers. 
  • Users are responsible for Library property, materials, equipment and furnishings during the period of use of Discussion Rooms.
  • Furniture may not be brought in or removed from a Discussion Room.
  • Preparing for projects, playing games/card/gambling and non-academic related activity in the Discussion Rooms is prohibited.
  • The room may be equipped with a whiteboard. User must bring their own White Board Marker and clean it before leaving the room.
  • Failure to comply with library policies, rules and regulations will be grounds for suspension of Discussion Room privileges.
  • The Library reserves the right to terminate use of Discussion Rooms that disrupts Library users or staff or that interferes with normal Library operations.
  • ​Video shooting is strictly prohibited without prior approval from the Head Librarian.

Discussion Room with Touch Screen Display

  • Rooms with Touch Screen Display may be used only for its intended purpose, i.e. to use the Touch Screen Display
  • Writing on the boards with any type of marker, pen and crayon is prohibited as it will damage the board. 
  • Do not hit or touch hard on the frame or surface of the Touch Screen Display as the screen is sensitive.
  • You may connect the laptop and gadget to the Touch Screen Display to work with the Board.
  • By checking out a room the user is assuming responsibility for all equipment and software associated with that room. The charge for damaged equipment and software will be the cost of replacing damaged part(s) plus non-refundable processing fee of RM50 per item.
